Juve crowned champions

JUVENTUS clinched the Serie A title on Saturday despite being held to a 2-2 draw with Perugia at a jubilant Stadio Delle Alpi as closest challengers Internazionale were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Parma.

David Trezeguet gave Juve the perfect start with the opening goal from the penalty spot on 23 minutes, but Italian international Fabrizio Miccoli shocked the home fans with an equaliser 10 minutes later.

Marco Di Vaio restored Juve's lead a minute after the restart with a superb individual goal and he missed a couple of other good chances to add to the lead.

Perugia stunned the hosts drawing level in stoppage time through Fabio Grosso, but it was not enough to prevent Juve from retaining their title.

Inter needed to win to have any chance of winning the title, but they were held to a 1-1 draw at the Giuseppe Meazza by Parma.

Mohammed Kallon broke the deadlock for Inter after 38 minutes, but Romanian ace Adrian Mutu equalised for Parma on 66 minutes.

Milan's Champions League hopes took a knock after going down to a 1-0 defeat at Brescia.

Stephan Appiah's late goal four minutes from time was enough to give Brescia all three points and the result is not the best preparation for Milan ahead of the second leg of their Champions League semi-final with neighbours Inter.

Lazio closed to within a point of third-placed Milan with an impressive win at Bologna.

Simone Inzaghi fired Lazio in front from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time and Guiseppe Favalli added a second after 64 minutes to put the Roman side in total control.

Chievo remain in fifth after a 4-2 win at already doomed Como.

Daniel Franceschini gave the visitors the ideal start with the opener after just eight minutes.

Luciano doubled the lead on 18 minutes and Franceschini added a third after 39 minutes.

Sasa Bjelanovic added a fourth a minute after the break to put Chievo in total control before Nicola Amoruso pulled a goal back two minutes later.

Nicola Caccia reduced arrears further eight minutes from time to salvage some pride for Como.

Roma continued their push for a place in Europe with a win over already relegated Torino at the Stadio Olimpico.

Antonio Cassano maintained his rich vein of form opening the scoring on 33 minutes and Daniele de Rossi doubled the advantage on the hour mark.

Cassano grabbed his second on 64 minutes to wrap up the win although Frezza did grab a late consolation for Torino eight minutes from time.

Atalanta earned a precious point in their battle against the drop with a goalless draw at Empoli.

Reggina remain in the final relegation spot after recording a 2-2 draw with fellow strugglers Piacenza.

David Di Michele fired Reggina in front on 68 minutes, but a quick-fire brace from veteran striker Dario Hubner (74,77) turned the game on its head for Piacenza.

Reggina hit back almost immediately with Santos Mozart levelling things up two minutes later.

Udinese kept their European hopes alive with a narrow 2-1 win over Modena.

Diomansy Kamara gave the visitors a shock lead on 39 minutes, but the lead was short-lived as David Pizzaro drew Udinese level two minutes later from the penalty spot.

Roberto Muzzi fired Udinese in front on 62 minutes to keep their European hopes alive.
