Milan have hosting rights in Giuseppe Meazza for the first tussle between the old adversaries and they have been the more impressive team in the competition this term.
Carlo Ancelotti's side have already beaten tournament favourites Real Madrid on home soil this term, although they narrowly squeezed into the last four.
Jon Dahl Tomasson's last minute goal secured their passage into the semi-finals as Milan ground out a 3-2 victory over Dutch outfit Ajax.
Milan have held sway over Inter in Serie A this season with a brace of 1-0 triumphs in their league meetings, with Serginho and Filippo Inzaghi the respective match-winners.
The hosts can welcome back midfield duo Clarence Seedorf and Andrea Pirlo should Ancelotti decide to recall the pair to his starting line-up.
Serginho and Rivaldo are pressing for a starting berth but Ancelotti is expected to line-up with Rui Costa deployed behind the attacking tandem of Inzaghi and Andrei Shevchenko.
Inter produced a stubborn rearguard action to reach the semi-finals as they won through on away goals against Valencia.
But Hector Cuper's troops were fortunate against the Argentinian coach's former club as the Spaniards were the moral victors given their superiority in both legs.
Cuper will be without the services of prolific striker Christian Vieri through injury so Hernan Crespo and Alvaro Recoba are tipped to lead the line.
Cristiano Zanetti is suspended for the clash but his usual replacement Stephan Dalmat is not 100 percent fit, meaning Cuper will have to decide whether to gamble on the midfielder's well-being.
