INTERNAZIONALE have taken advantage of Fiorentina's troubles by snapping up Viola defender Daniele Adani on a free transfer.

The whole Viola squad were made available on free transfers after they failed to stave off the threat of bankruptcy.

The 28-year-old has attracted the interest of a host of clubs including Arsenal, Fulham and Middlesbrough, but Inter have moved quickly to secure his services.

The highly-rated central defender passed a medical at Giuseppe Meazza on Monday and has signed a three-year deal with The Nerazzurri.

The former Brescia and Lazio star will bolster Inter's squad for the new season as they prepare for an assault on The Scudetto and Champions League.

Adani's move to Inter appears to leave the road clear for Milan to clinch the signing of Parma defender Fabio Cannavaro.

The Italian international has been linked with both Milan and Inter, but the capture of Adani would seem to suggest that Inter have switched their attentions elsewhere.

Milan have been chasing Cannavaro for the whole summer, after the player expressed an interest in leaving Ennio Tardini, but have failed to agree a deal with Parma.
