FIORENTINA EYE INTER PAIR

FIORENTINA are hoping to bag Internazionale midfield pair Luigi di Biagio and Benoit Cauet.

The pair are both struggling to gain a regular place in Marcelo Lippi`s starting line-up and The Viola are hoping to seal the double deal within the next week.

Di Biagio moved to the San Siro in 1999 from Roma, but he has struggled to make the expected impact and the Italian international is expected to agree to the move.

31-year-old teammate Cauet, has been with Inter for nearly three seasons since moving from Paris Saint Germain, but despite the fact the French international has always been seen as a valuable squad member, he is now looking for first team football and Fatih Terim could offer him that at the Artemio Franchi stadium.

The Florence outfit have been embroiled in a wide range of transfers over the summer, but have only managed to sign Nuno Gomes, Paolo Vanoli, Domenico Morfeo, and Amaral - who has since damaged his knee ligaments and will be out for at least six months.

Vittorio Cecchi Gorri had been trying to sign Boudewijn Zenden from Barcelona and Chelsea`s Gabrielle Ambrosetti, but neither of those have barred fruition and the passionate Viola faithful are beginning to be become disenchanted at the lack of success on the transfer front following the sale of their idol Gabriel Batistuta.
