Champions elect Juventus were amazingly beaten by bankrupt and relegated Parma in the shock result of the Serie A season on Saturday.

Jose Mauri's goal was enough for the Gialloblu to make it seven points from their last three games, and 16 for the season, while at least delaying the Bianconeri's march to a fourth straight league title.

Juve's lead at the top of the table could be cut to 11 points this weekend, although it was clear that their focus had already shifted to a more important appointment in the Champions League on Tuesday as Massimiliano Allegri made wholesale changes.

But that should take nothing away from Parma as they followed up their draw with Inter Milan and win over Udinese with another three points.

Genoa left Cagliari even deeper in relegation danger with a 2-0 win at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Saturday.

Goals from M'Baye Niang and Iago Falque earned the Rossoblu all three points against a luckless Cagliari side, who hit the woodwork three times.

The win keeps Genoa in with an outside chance of making Europe next season, although Cagliari's hopes of staying up took a blow with five points separating them from Atalanta above the relegation zone, and the Bergamo club have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Roberto Mancini celebrated a first win in six games as Inter Milan won 3-0 at Verona. Mauro Icardi struck after just 11 minutes before Rodrigo Palacio added a second shortly after the break.

Verona looked set to get back into the contest when they were awarded a penalty with 15 minutes to play but Samir Handanovic saved Luca Toni's effort and Inter's victory was assured in stoppage time when Vangelis Moras put the ball in his own net.
