Modibo Diakite is keen to repay the faith shown in him by Fiorentina after joining on loan from Sunderland.
The Frenchman joined Sunderland at the start of the season from Lazio but struggled to hold down a regular starting place, making only seven appearances for the Black Cats.
The 26-year-old is keen to kick-start his career again during his stint at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.
"Fiorentina are a great club, they are a big organisation and they have a big coach," said Diakite. "I chose Florence because I've seen the football this team showed last season.
"Now it's up to me to repay the faith Fiorentina showed me. I must improve a lot of my technical skills. Training with this team can improve me a lot. I'll always do what the coaches ask me."
The Viola's technical director Eduardo Macia said: "Modibo completes our defensive line. He arrives on loan until June. He had experience in Italian and English football. "
"It hasn't been easy signing him, Sunderland had a lot of requests for him. "
