Sampdoria have agreed the loan signing of striker Maxi Lopez from Catania until the end of the season.
The former Barcelona man has struggled to make an impact at Catania, scoring just five goals since his arrival from FC Moscow in the summer of 2010.
Lopez spent last season on loan at Sampdoria and scored four goals in 17 matches for the Serie A outfit. However, he has failed to make an impact since returning to Catania, making just five appearances this season.
It is thought the loan deal involves an option for Sampdoria to sign him permanently in the summer.
Lopez told Gazzetta dello Sport: "When this possibility arrived, I thought it was the right time to sign.
"It was an option that interested me very much. I phoned Mihajlovic and realised the seriousness he has for this project.
"I did not hesitate for a moment. I have definitely made the right decision."
