Sassuolo coach Eusebio Di Francesco's job is reported to be hanging by a thread after Sunday's 3-1 defeat at Livorno in the Serie A.
The reverse in Leghorn was Sassuolo's sixth loss in their last seven league games leaving them 18th in the standings, one point adrift of safety after 21 games played.
As a result, the club is considering making a change.
"The club is reflecting to evaluate what to do," Sassuolo general director Nereo Bonato said to Gazzetta dello Sport.
"We need to understand if at the club we have the resources to fight back or if we have to find an alternative route.
"We know the value of Di Francesco.
"Each situation will be closely evaluated in the next hours internally before we take any rushed decisions."
Di Francesco led Sassuolo to gain promotion to Italy's top flight last summer and is under contract with the Emilia-Romagna outfit until June 2015.
