Flamengo have admitted a liking for Roma's Brazilian defender Leandro Castan but insisted there have been no talks yet over a deal.
The 26-year-old centre-back struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at Roma last season after moving to the Italian capital from Corinthians.
He could now be set for a return to his homeland after Flamengo director of football Paulo Pelaipe confirmed his club were interested.
However, Flamengo have yet to decide whether to step up their pursuit and have not contacted Roma.
Pelaipe told Globo Esporte: "He is a great defender and we are evaluating his situation, but there are no actual negotiations for his signing at the moment."
