Werder Bremen general manager Thomas Eichin remained coy when asked about the chances of signing Inter Milan defender Luca Caldirola.
The Italy Under-21 international has been heavily linked with a move to the Weserstadion in recent weeks as the club seek a replacement for Borussia Dortmund-bound Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
Reports in the German media suggest negotiations have taken place between Bremen and Inter, but sticking points remain over the structure of the deal.
It is believed the Nerazzurri are demanding a permanent £2.7million transfer for the 22-year-old, while Bremen would prefer an initial loan deal with an option to buy.
When quizzed on the potential signing of Caldirola, Eichin refused to confirm or deny the reports.
"We are still looking out for new players to strengthen our first-team squad," he said. "I am not prepared to make any comment on this [the Luca Caldirola rumours]. Still I do not want to deny this, either."
