Laurent Blanc has confirmed there has been contact with Roma about becoming their manager, but nothing has been agreed.
The former France national team coach has been out of a job since he stepped down from his role with Les Bleus after a disappointing Euro 2012 campaign.
And although he also attracted interest from Monaco, Blanc admitted he had been in negotiations with Roma, but is unsure whether anything more will happen as regards to an appointment.
"Were the rumours at AS Roma true? Yes," Blanc told L'Equipe.
"It was not sorted for several reasons, from both sides. We were not on the same wavelengths."
"Monaco? There was nothing."
The former Manchester United defender endured a controversial couple of years as France coach, with famous spats with Patrice Evra, Samir Nasri and several others proving to be an unwelcome distraction from matters on the field.
"During the Euros, people got too focused on some players' behaviour, and it is a shame to talk about that," he added.
"I felt betrayed by those players, but we were forced to experience that."
