Cagliari have axed coach Massimo Ficcadenti and replaced him with former player Ivo Pulga.
Ficcadenti, 44, was previously sacked in November of last year only to be restored to the Cagliari bench in March but there is unlikely to be any way back this time with the team bottom of Serie A.
His replacement Pulga has no management experience although the 48-year-old did play for the Rossoblu for six years from 1985 to 1991.
He is joined in the dugout by a new assistant coach in Diego Lopez and the pair took charge of training on Tuesday before being officially appointed on Wednesday.
Cagliari are currently winless six games into the Italian league season and Sunday's 2-1 home defeat to Pescara was enough to see Ficcadenti removed from his position.
