Spaniard's agent says ex-Pool boss not chasing Allegri job

Rafa Benitez's agent has denied speculation the ex-Liverpool boss has sounded out AC Milan chiefs about replacing under-fire coach Massimiliano Allegri. Speculation about Allegri's position has been rife after Milan lost their opening two home matches in their worst start to a Serie A season for 82 years. The Rossoneri have suffered shock defeats by newly-promoted Sampdoria and Atlanta, forcing vice-president Adriano Galliani to publicly back Allegri this week. But Benitez, out of employment since leaving Milan's city rivals Inter in 2010, claims he has not tried to turn up the heat on the current boss.

Proposal

"It is not true that Benitez has put himself forward to AC Milan," said the Spaniard's agent Manuel Garcia Quillon. "But if the Rossoneri should call, he would evaluate the proposal and listen carefully. "If Milan called we'll speak about it because we are ready to listen to everything - and not only from Italy."
