Cavani and Hamsik on target as Juventus are denied domestic double

Napoli claimed their first major trophy for 22 years and denied Juventus a domestic double with a 2-0 win in the Italian Cup final. Edinson Cavani broke the deadlock with a 63rd-minute penalty and Marek Hamsik made sure of victory when he finished off a sweeping counter-attack seven minutes from time. Napoli were awarded the spot-kick after Marco Storari took down Ezequiel Lavezzi in the penalty area. Hamsik put the result beyond doubt when he finished smartly after being played in by Goran Pandev following a brisk counter-attack. It was the most painful time for Juve's 43-match unbeaten run to end, especially for captain Alessandro Del Piero, playing the last match of his 19-year career with the club. The Turin side's misery was compounded in the penultimate minute when substitute Fabio Quagliarella was sent off for an elbow in the face of Salvatore Aronica.
