Vazquez and Mehmeti join on long-term deals

Palermo have bolstered their attacking options with the addition of two young talents in the January transfer window. The signing of 22-year-old Franco Vazquez from Argentinian club Belgrano had been arranged in September. The purchase of the attacking midfielder will inevitably draw comparisons with Palermo's former Argentine star Javier Pastore. It was Pastore who helped smooth the deal after telling his compatriot good things about the Sicilian club. Vazquez will be joined at the club by Agon Mehmeti, also 22, who has signed on a free transfer from Malmo. The Swedish forward of Kosovan origin impressed with 11 league goals in 2010 but endured a less prolific 2011 season in Sweden as his contract began to run down. Both players have signed long-term deals that commit them to Palermo until June 2016.
