Brazilian forward signs for Serie A newcomers

Italian club Novara have signed striker Jeda from Lecce on loan for the 2011-12 season. The Serie A newcomers completed the signing on Wednesday and made the announcement on their official website, adding that they have retained the right to recruit the 32-year-old on a permanent deal at the end of his loan term. Jeda, who has played in Italy since 2000 for a number of clubs including Palermo and Cagliari, trained with the rest of the Novara team on Wednesday. The Brazilian featured in 25 league matches for Lecce last season and scored four goals, as the Giallorossi narrowly avoided relegation from the Italian top flight. Novara have added a number of new players to their squad this summer, including former Juventus defender Massimo Paci and Japan international striker Takayuki Morimoto.
