Player leaves San Siro ahead of new season

Marco Borriello has sealed a permanent switch to Roma following a loan spell last season. The forward arrived at Stadio Olimpico from AC Milan on deadline day in August 2010 and impressed enough to earn a contract at the club. The 29-year-old, who has penned a four-year deal with the Giallorossi, scored 11 goals in 34 league appearances for Roma last season. The Italian will become an official Roma player when his loan deal expires at the end of June. An international at both senior and under-21 level, Borriello ironically scored the winning goal against AC in a Roma shirt when the two sides met in December. A statement from the Serie A side read: "Roma announces it has exercised the clause to acquire the sporting rights of Marco Borriello. "For this permanent acquisition, Roma will pay AC Milan 10million euros."
