Milan striker sidelined with thigh problem

AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato looks set to miss a chunk of the run-in after being ruled out for two to three weeks with a thigh problem. The Brazilian sustained the injury in Saturday's 3-0 victory at home to Sampdoria, when he had to be substituted before half-time. Scans have now revealed the extent of the damage and Milan confirmed on their official website that it would take at least a fortnight for Pato to recover. The 21-year-old will therefore have to sit out Wednesday's Coppa Italia semi-final against Palermo and the weekend Serie A clash with Brescia. The home game against Bologna on 1st May is also likely to come too soon, but Pato will desperately hope to be fit for the trip to Roma six days later. Milan are currently six points clear of nearest rivals Napoli in the title race and chasing a league and cup double.
