Japanese star determined to leave Italian outfit

Catania striker Takayuki Morimoto looks set to leave the Serie A club at the end of the season. The Japan international has struggled to make an impact under head coach Diego Simeone. And the 22-year-old, who joined the club from Tokyo Verdy in 2006, admits he is ready to leave the Rossazzurri. Morimoto told Mainichi Daily news: "I'll never stay at Catania. "I can't say anything concrete, but my agent has mentioned offers from some clubs." Morimoto missed Japan's Asian Cup-winning campaign in January after having knee surgery in December and has struggled to make an impact since. The player has been reportedly linked with a move to Serie A rivals Napoli or Russian giants Lokomotiv Moscow. However, Catania general manager Pietro Lo Monaco has hit back at the youngster's comments. He said: "Morimoto is a Catania player. I will not allow presumptuous quotes to be made regarding transfers by him, nor his agent. "The team still believes in him."
