Napoli newcomer thanks former club Catania

Napoli newcomer Giuseppe Mascara has set his sights on the Serie A title after arriving from Catania on deadline day. The striker has been with Catania for the past seven-and-a-half years, racking up nearly 200 appearances. A series of impressive performances this season caught the attention of high-flying Napoli and a move was finalised on Monday evening. Mascara appreciates everything his former club did for him but is now looking forward to the challenge ahead at Napoli, having signed on a deal until 2013. "At Catania, I leave my heart," Mascara told Tuttomercatoweb. "I lived through six wonderful years at the club.

Honour

"I want to thank the president [Antonino] Pulvirenti and director [Pietro] Lo Monaco who plucked me from obscurity, brought me to the club, raised me like a child and developed me into the footballer I am today. "For this, I say thank you. "For me it is an honour to be here now at Napoli and part of a group trying to achieve important objectives." Napoli are currently second in the Serie A standings, five points adrift of leaders AC Milan, and Mascara hopes to finish top. "It doesn't cost to dream about winning it," he added.
