Striker Marco Di Vaio has revealed his desire to sign a new contract with Bologna and end his career with the club.
The 34-year-old is a well-travelled professional and had spent time with nine other clubs before joining Bologna on an initial loan deal in 2008.
The move became permanent 12 months later and Di Vaio remains an integral figure in manager Alberto Malesani's plans.
He scored the second goal in Bologna's crucial 2-0 victory over Bari at the weekend and is now close to extending the terms of his agreement.
"The real goals are those that carry points," said Di Vaio, who has netted 11 times in 19 games this season.
"I like that mine are important. Malesani has shown us the way forward and we have been very good at following it.
"I can't wait to sign the new contract. I want to close my career at Bologna."
