Roma striker Marco Borriello is set to undergo surgery after picking up a facial injury in the 1-0 victory over Bari.
Borriello required treatment during Sunday's match after being caught by a stray elbow but was able to carry on until the final whistle
However, Roma later confirmed that scans had detected a 'fracture in the anterior wall of the right maxillary sinus', an area just under the eye and cheekbone.
Borriello will now be sent for an operation over the Christmas break, although he could still play in next week's final game of 2010 against AC Milan.
The 28-year-old will wear a special protective mask to make him available for selection.
