Chievo midfielder Luciano is set to be sidelined for six to eight weeks due to injury.
Luciano had to be substituted in only the 17th minute of Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Brescia.
Scans have since revealed that he suffered damage to the right thigh and is likely to be out of action for some time.
The 34-year-old could be missing for up to two months, meaning he will have to watch a large number of key games from the touchline.
Chievo have made a strong start to the season, winning three of their opening four Serie A games to sit second in the table.
And Luciano, who has been with the club for a decade, has been in fine form over the past few weeks.
