Italian midfielder expected to join German outfit on Monday

Stuttgart are on the verge of signing Mauro Camoranesi from Juventus, according to reports in Germany. The 33-year-old midfielder had been in talks to join Birmingham City earlier this summer but the move fell through. And the veteran Italian international looks set to head to the Bundesliga instead, with Stuttgart expected to announce his arrival on Monday. "We are waiting on the medical, but it's looking good for Camoranesi," said the German side's sporting director Fredi Bobic. Camoranesi, a 2006 World Cup winner, is seen as Stuttgart's replacement for Sami Khedira, who joined Real Madrid during the transfer window. Christian Gross' side have made a disastrous start to their league campaign, losing their opening two matches to leave them propping up the Bundesliga table.
