AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta has undergone minor surgery on his broken hand.
The 34-year-old fractured a metacarpal whilst playing against Juventus in the pre-season TIM Trophy.
The club expect Nesta to be sidelined for around seven days but said in a statement on their website: "Nesta will certainly be available for the opening day of the championship."
The Rossoneri open up their Serie A campaign against Lecce on 29th August.
