Catania director Pietro Lo Monaco has insisted Maxi Lopez will not be sold this season.
The Argentine striker only joined Catania in January but he settled quickly into Italian football, scoring 11 goals in 17 appearances.
His performances did not go unnoticed and a number of clubs were reportedly interested in a summer swoop.
Fiorentina were among those linked with Lopez but Catania have now issued a hands-off warning to any potential suitors.
"Maxi Lopez is a Catania player and he'll play for us for the entire season," Lo Monaco told Tuttomercato.com.
"You need more than gossip, speculation and rumours to start transfer negotiations - you need money.
"Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has never contacted me so this matter ends here."
