Roma agree to offload winger

Sampdoria have brought Stefano Guberti back to the club in a joint-ownership deal with Roma. The 25-year-old winger spent the second half of last season on loan with the Genoa-based club and had made no secret of his desire to return. He scored two goals in 16 Serie A appearances for Samp during his short-term spell, catching the eye with a number of impressive displays. The former Ascoli man had made the move after finding first-team football hard to come by at Roma following a summer switch to the capital. He had featured just six times, three as a starter, before Christmas and it was clear that he was not considered to be a regular. Guberti is now relishing the prospect of a full season at Samp, with the ambitious Italian outfit looking to make inroads at home and abroad. They have been drawn against German giants Werder Bremen in the UEFA Champions League play-offs and will have their sights set on the group stages.
