Brazilian signs three-year deal

Brazilian striker Adriano has expressed his delight after finally being presented as a Roma player. The 28-year-old has been edging closer to a move to the Stadio Olimpico since he became a free agent when his deal with Flamengo expired. Adriano had returned to his homeland last summer following a turbulent end to his eight-year spell with Inter Milan. However, he has now agreed a deal with Roma until 2013 after snubbing interest from the Premier League. Greeted by around 5,000 fans at his official unveiling, Adriano insisted that he had changed a lot since the last time he played in Italy. "I am glad to be back in Italy and to hold the Roma jersey, which carries so much responsibility," he said. "So many things have changed since I went back to Brazil. I rediscovered the happiness that I had lost, today I'm more mature and have returned to prove it. "Many clubs sought me, not just in Italy and in England, but I chose Roma because it's similar to Rio. "The fans have that same fiery nature and it has helped me so much that from the moment I arrived there has been such affection."
