Savio Nsereko is poised to join Bologna on loan from their Serie A rivals Fiorentina.
The 20-year-old striker has struggled to make an impression with the Viola since sealing a summer switch from West Ham.
A lack of first-team opportunities has convinced him that a move during the January transfer window is now essential.
Torino were initially favourites to land his signature, but the ongoing problems at the second tier outfit put paid to any potential agreement.
That has allowed Bologna to step in, with Savio's agent confirming that his client will complete a switch to the Rossoblu in the next few days.
"Today (Thursday) Savio is undergoing a medical at Bologna," Patrick Bastianelli told tuttomercatoweb.it.
"It is unlikely that he will play on Sunday against his former club, Fiorentina, because he hasn't even trained with his new team yet.
"The contract should be completed on Friday or next Monday."
