Genoa have suffered a blow with the news that midfielder Houssine Kharja has been sidelined for six-months.
The Moroccan ace damaged an anterior cruciate ligament in training last week.
Following scans, the club have now confirmed that he is set for surgery and will be out until April.
A statement on Genoa's official website read: "Genoa announce that the MRI scan that was performed on the midfielder Houssine Kharja and it revealed an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in the left knee.
"This diagnosis requires surgery in order to repair it. The return to full training is estimated to be in six months."
