Gaby Mudingayi has insisted he is happy at Bologna and determined to play an important role.

The Belgian midfielder was linked with a switch to Napoli during the summer but a move failed to materialise.

Mudingayi always maintained that he was committed to Bologna and, despite losing his starting place in recent weeks, claims nothing has changed.

"After the transfer window closed, I always said I would give my all to carve out an important role here at Bologna," he told Radio Kiss Kiss.

"Personally, I just want to win back a spot in the first team. This year Bologna is stronger and more united than last year.

"The team is well balanced and also plays much better."

Bologna are languishing in 16th place despite showing signs of improvement and Mudingayi realises the importance of picking up three points against Napoli this weekend.

He stated: "The other Sunday we lost to Genoa at home. It was a heavy defeat because we wanted to win.

"It won't be easy to get the three points at Napoli, but we will try to pick up as much as possible."
