Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has admitted he is interested in signing Inter Milan centre-back Nicolas Burdisso.
The Giallorossi have not made any significant moves in the transfer market this summer, despite gaining £20million from the sale of Alberto Aquilani to Liverpool.
Spalletti's side looked shaky at the back during their 3-3 draw with unheralded Slovakian outfit MFK Kosice in the Europa League on Thursday.
The 50-year-old Italian coach is now keen to bring in defensive reinforcements ahead of the start of the Serie A campaign.
"He (Burdisso) is someone with character and experience. He could have the quality to add something extra to our team," Spalletti said.
Roma's financial situation has caused concern during pre-season, with many doubting if the club can match last season's sixth-place finish
However, Spalletti claims to have no such concerns and is confident that his team will remain a challenger for top honours in the league.
"I am convinced this is a squad worthy of Roma, the quality of young players is important," he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"If other transactions are made then it will not create difficulties in our approach to the championship.
"This team was built with large investments, based on results in past seasons. The objective has always been growth and victory."
