AC Milan have struck a deal to buy Porto's French left-back Aly Cissokho for £13million, chief executive Adriano Galliani confirmed on Sunday.
The 21-year-old defender had attracted the interest of Lyon, but Milan claim to have landed their man after Galliani flew out to Oporto on Saturday to thrash out the move.
Cissokho, who can also play at right-back, has impressed since his January move to Porto and will join the Rossoneri on a five-year contract subject to passing a medical on Monday.
"The negotiation during the night has been intense", Galliani told Milan's official website.
"We consider Cissokho really strong and this is showed by the interest towards him, also in the decisive hours of the agreement, arrived from important European clubs.
"But in the end the friendship prevailed, after many years in football, with the Porto directors, with whom in the past we were co-founders of the G-14."
Cissokho will be Milan's first signing since the departure of coach Carlo Ancelotti to Chelsea and playmaker Kaka to Real Madrid, and he has been earmarked as the replacement for Paolo Maldini, who hung his boots up last month.
The Serie A side are also hopeful of signing VfL Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko and have been linked in the media with Sao Paolo midfielder Hernanes.
