Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Inter Milan are in pole position to secure the services of Genoa striker Diego Milito.
The Argentina forward has been in superb form for Genoa this season, finding the net 20 times in Serie A to help his club challenge for a European berth.
Several Premier League clubs had also been credited with an interest in the 29-year-old, but the new Italian champions are now expected to land his signature.
Talks between all parties have been under way and Inter boss Mourinho, celebrating the title in his first season at the helm, is confident of getting his man.
The Portuguese tactician told Italian television: "Now we can say it. Inter are not too far from getting Milito from Genoa, a striker in top form."
