Napoli winger Christian Maggio has undergone an operation in an effort to resolve a knee injury.
The Italy international sustained the injury during Sunday's encounter with Lazio.
The severity of the problem then became clear after undergoing a scan, with surgery deemed to be the only option.
Maggio's operation is reported to have been a success but he is facing up to a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Meanwhile, Napoli are also waiting to discover how long they are set to be without Walter Gargano.
The Uruguayan midfielder has a broken metatarsal and also looks set to be out of action for some time.
He is set to visit a specialist in Barcelona on Wednesday, when his situation is expected to become clearer.
