Roma defender Cicinho will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his knee.
The Brazilian full-back picked up the injury in training over the weekend as Roma continued their preparations for Wednesday's UEFA Champions League clash with Arsenal.
Scans later confirmed there had been ligament damage and Cicinho will now play no further part in Roma's campaign.
It is expected to take Cicinho four months to make a full recovery and he is disappointed to be sidelined.
"It's a pity," he told the Italian press. "I hope to be at the coach's disposal as soon as possible.
"Anyway, I want to be in the stands for the Champions League game against Arsenal to be close to my team-mates.
"We want to win this match."
