Inter Milan duo Marco Materazzi and Nicolas Burdisso have been ruled out of the UEFA Champions League clash at Manchester United.
The defenders picked up injuries in Saturday's win at Genoa and face several weeks on the sidelines following the results of scans.
Materazzi has suffered a thigh strain and the Italy international is expected to be out of Inter coach Jose Mourinho's plans for three weeks.
Burdisso's injury is even more serious with the Argentinian stopper likely to be sidelined for at least six weeks after damaging medial ligaments in his knee.
The injuries compound Mourinho's defensive problems for Wednesday's second leg at Old Trafford, with the first meeting having finished 0-0.
Walter Samuel, who missed the draw in the San Siro, is a major doubt, while Cristian Chivu is also struggling to be fit for the game.
Mourinho may have to press Esteban Cambiasso into emergency action as a centre-half alongside Ivan Cordoba.
