Italian full-back rules out Serie A return

Italy international Fabio Grosso insists he made the right choice in joining Lyon back in 2007. The full-back was on the books of the all-conquering Inter Milan prior to his switch to France, but decided to call time on a 12-month stay at Giuseppe Meazza. As a World Cup winner Grosso had no shortage of suitors when it became apparent he was available for transfer. It therefore came as some surprise when he opted to turn his back on Serie A and head for the less glamorous surroundings of Ligue 1. However, Grosso is delighted with his choice and has refuted any suggestion that he is set for an imminent return to his homeland.

Memories

"I am at ease at Lyon. It is a great club and I am very happy to be here," he told L'Equipe. "That is what I say every time an Italian asks me about my future. "I have absolutely no regrets and I am delighted with my experience in France. When I do leave Lyon I will do so with some excellent memories." Grosso also denied any knowledge of a reported approach made by Manchester City during the January transfer window. "I didn't know that," he said.
