Liga giants could land Argentine veteran

Real Madrid are set to meet with Hernan Crespo's agent on Wednesday to discuss a possible move ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports in Italy. The Liga giants are currently on the lookout for striker reinforcements following the crushing blow that Ruud van Nistelrooy will miss the remainder of the campaign with a knee injury. The 33-year-old former AC Milan and Chelsea marksman fits Real's short-term requirements and the Santiago Bernabeu outfit are reportedly willing to hand the veteran a six-month deal. However, whether Crespo would be interested in the short-term contract remains to be seen when Real hold talks with his agent Fernando Hidalgo on Wednesday.

Big names

Real have also been linked with another big name striker in Serie A in the shape of Roma's Mirko Vucinic. However, the Giallorossi have instantly poured cold water on the talk, stating the 25-year-old will not leave the club in January or the end of the season. "We will not sell our Vucinic neither in January, nor in June," read a club statement. "Even if Real made an official request, which they haven't done and as far as we know they won't do so."
