Juventus midfielder Mohamed Sissoko is confident he can return from injury in time for the UEFA Champions League preliminary matches.
The 23-year-old has been on the sidelines since picking up a thigh injury last month when on international duty with Mali.
Now the former Liverpool player, who moved to the Italian side in January, is nearly back to full fitness and hopes to play a part in the Champions League qualifiers.
"I should start playing again soon, but the doctors have told me I have to take it one step at a time," he told La Gazzetta Sportiva.
Close to return
"I don't think there will be problems. I'll say again, I'm fine, but if it's possible, I'll speed up my recovery."
Sissoko will stay in Italy for the start of Juventus' Champions League campaign rather than return to his home country for an international friendly on 20th August.
But the midfielder is keen to be present for the 2010 World Cup qualifying game against Congo on 7th September.
"It's only a friendly, I'm not obliged to go and there's the Champions League preliminaries," added Sissoko. "I'll go in September for the World Cup qualifiers though."
