Internazionale defender Ivan Cordoba could be out for two months with the knee injury he suffered at Liverpool.
Cordoba was substituted 15 minutes from time as 10-man Inter slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Anfield in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League tie.
Reports suggest the Colombian will be out until April, although the 31-year-old is hoping it will not be a serious problem.
"I got injured falling," Cordoba told the Italian media.
Big pain
"I felt a big pain, but it may not be such a bad thing. We will see."
Inter coach Roberto Mancini is also waiting to learn the severity of the injury, but fears it could be a lengthy lay-off for Cordoba.
"Unfortunately it looks serious," said Mancini. "Ivan told me his knee turned.
"It's difficult to assess the severity of the damage right now."
Cordoba's injury compounds Inter's defensive problems for the return leg against Liverpool after Marco Materazzi was sent off for two bookable offences.
