Italian ace returns home

Parma have sealed the capture of Italian international Cristiano Lucarelli from Shakhtar Donetsk. The 32-year-old has returned to his homeland just six-months after moving to Ukraine. Lucarelli left Livorno in the summer and big things were expected of him, but he failed to live up to expectations and started just nine league games for Shakhtar - although he did score four times. The likes of Tottenham, Newcastle, Fulham and Middlesbrough were all linked with Lucarelli but Parma beat off rivals Torino and Genoa to seal his signing. It is believed Parma have paid £4million for a permanent deal and have handed Lucarelli a three-and-half-year deal.
