Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey faces a spell on the sidelines after picking up a knee surgery.
The French international suffered the injury in training and he is due to undergo surgery later this week.
It means that Frey will miss next week's Uefa Cup clash with Mlada Boleslav, but Fiorentina are unsure how long the keeper will be sidelined for.
"He twisted his knee, partially damaging the meniscus and will undergo surgery," read a club statement. "Only after the procedure will it be possible to know how long he will be sidelined for."
Frey has been an ever-present for Fiorentina this season and his absence will be a major blow to the Viola.
