Sampdoria new boy Antonio Cassano faces a spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury on his debut.
The summer signing from Real Madrid picked up a thigh injury during his side's friendly with Swiss side Bellinzona.
Cassano suffered the knock just before half-time and he was forced off with the problem.
The Italian international is due to undergo scans on the injury next week and it is feared he could be sidelined for up to a month.
The news is a blow for Cassano who has been undergoing intensive training in a bid to get fit for Samp.
