Internazionale forward Julio Cruz has signed a contract extension to keep him at the club until 2009.
There had been speculation about Cruz's future over the summer, as he only made 15 appearances in an injury-plagued campaign lasts season.
With David Suazo arriving at the San Siro to increase competition for places, many had expected him to leave in the pursuit of a new challenge.
However, he has always maintained that he would like to stay at Inter for the rest of his career, and was happy to put pen-to-paper on a new deal on Friday.
"I am delighted to have renewed my contract," the player nicknamed 'The Gardener' told the Inter Channel.
"I only signed today, but we agreed on a deal a long time ago and I have never had any problems with it. I'm in my fifth season here and it feels like home to me.
"The plan is to continue doing what I always do - give my best in every training session and give my all in games for the club and everyone who has had faith in me."
Cruz started Inter's first Serie A game of the season against Udinese but was left on the bench for the 2-0 victory over Empoli last weekend.
