Palermo have pulled out of the race to sign Livorno goalkeeper Marco Amelia.
The Serie A club claim they were close to agreeing a deal for Amelia, who has also been linked with a move to Manchester City and Lazio.
But it now appears the Tuscan club have upped their valuation of the keeper to 7.5million euros (£5million) forcing Palmero to drop their interest.
"The negotiations were due to be completed a couple of months ago. We were close to an agreement, then they ask us for an incredible sum," Rosanero sporting director Rino Foschi told Italian radio.
"Now we are going to do nothing. We already have two keepers and don't intend to complicate things any further."
