Holland coach Dick Advocaat has revealed that either Maarten Stekelenburg or Sander Westerveld will be his number three keeper at Euro 2004.
Fulham star Edwin van der Sar and PSV Eindhoven custodian Ronald Waterreus have already been given the nod, but Advocaat has not yet made a choice on who will join them in the squad.
Real Sociedad keeper Westerveld appeared to be ahead in the race earlier in the season, but disaster struck when he broke a finger in February.
The former Liverpool man is now close to full fitness, but his position in Portugal is far from assured.
Advocaat has been impressed with the efforts of young Ajax shot-stopper Stekelenburg.
Stekelenburg has played nine times for Ajax this term, but he has moved to the bench following the return to fitness of Bogdan Lobont.
Advocaat would appear to see Stekelenburg as the future of Oranje football and he could well choose to take the youngster to Portugal to give him experience of life at a major tournament.
