Kahveci glad to be back

NIHAT KAHVECI has revealed he missed playing football before making his seasonal debut to inspire Real Sociedad to Champions League success.

The Turkish star had not featured for Sociedad this term after straining knee ligaments while on international duty in August.

Sociedad coach Raynald Denoueix opted not to throw Kahveci immediately into the heat of battle for the club's Champions League bow against Olympiakos on Wednesday evening.

Instead, Kahveci bided his time before his second half introduction as a substitute and he played an influential role in turning the game in Sociedad's favour.

Darko Kovacevic's penalty settled the contest but Kahveci admits the vocal support of the Sociedad faithful enabled him to raise his game and overcome his rustiness.

"When I raised my head and listened to the public singing my name, it encouraged me a lot," admitted Kahveci.

"I wanted to provide them with a goal for their constant support but it could not be. At least there was the victory.

"I missed playing football and I came out with many desires. I wanted to do it all."
