Swiss midfielder Fabio Celestini has signed a contract to stay at Levante until the summer of 2007.

Celestini joined the Primera Liga side prior to the start of the season in a complex transfer from Marseille.

The French outfit initially only wanted to loan out the player but an accord was struck whereby Celestini would earn a longer deal once he had made ten appearances.

He reached that figure against Athletic Bilbao at the weekend, which has enabled Levante to secure Celestini's services permanently.

The 29-year-old has now penned a deal tying him to Levante until June 2007, with the option of a further 12 months.

Celestini has been a key figure for Bernd Schuster's side this season, with Levante surprising everyone since their promotion as they sit in third in La Liga.
