Celta Vigo goalkeeper Jose Manuel Pinto has inked a new four-year contract with the Galician outfit.
The 31-year-old has established himself as the club's undisputed number one in recent seasons having joined nine years ago from Real Betis.
Pinto's previous deal still had a year to run, but Celta have moved to ensure that the Andalusian-born custodian remains at the Balaidos where he is now contracted until 2010.
Director of football Felix Carnero revealed negotiations were quickly concluded with both parties keen to reach agreement.
"There were two important aspects to the deal," Carnero stated. "Firstly he wanted to stay in Vigo.
"It's not always easy for a player to come out and say that because they know it can work against them in negotiations.
"But he came out and said he and his family feel like they belong in Vigo and wanted to stay, that was the main thing.
"But also, Celta believe he is a magnificent goalkeeper and had to remain in Vigo."
